He’s Back!

Cheesin' with his new "cages" as he calls them. (Ain't he cute? <3) He grew up soooo much in a week!

My handsome little man has arrived safely home.  He got home at about 11:30 PM last night.  He had a FAB time at the beach.  I sure did miss the little guy.

Beautiful, Glittery Shells he painted! ❤ He made the blue one especially for me!

He came bearing gifts.  He hand painted some shells for Mr. C , Miss Priss and I.  He also bought MP a Gary(from Spongebob) and a cute little purse.  What a thoughtful big brother.

He also came bearing illness.  Last night my MIL showed me an AWFUL infected spot on his stomach.  Looked like MRSA…and I knew we were going to be making a trip to the DR. in the AM.  And at about 2:00AM he woke up and vomited everywhere.  We got our bed cleaned up(he was sleeping with me in my bed) and got him and I settled.  About 20 min. later he woke up vomiting again.  He has been 100%  fine today so either:

A.  Whatever he ate for dinner didn’t settle with him

B. He had some sort of little stomach bug.

The doctor had to open up his infection(I won’t go into details) and Trent SCREAMED and cried.  It is sooo painful when they do that.   He is now on a round of oral antibiotics and lets hope and pray he doesn’t end up hospitalized like his sister.

Side note: We had several MRSA outbreaks starting last December.  Mr. C had it twice, TGD had it twice, and MP had it once(which led to a 6 day hospitilazation).  During that time we have had to take Clorox baths, use antibacterial soap, wipe EVERYTHING in our house down with bleach, change the sheets and towels everyday…..etc.  It is a HUGE ordeal trying to get rid of MRSA.  We had been 5 months without anyone getting it, and I guess TGD picked it up in Myrtle Beach. We really thought we were PAST MRSA….but I guess we aren’t out of the woods yet.

Poor guy wasn’t even home 24 hours and has had a few little bumps in the road.  God love it.

Hopefully my MIL will be sending me some more beach pictures with you soon!  I really can’t wait to see/share them with you all!

I’ll leave you with a picture of Reese:

Miss Priss...the mommy! ❤

**Please remember to keep this family in your prayers and also the families of the victims of 9/11.

I took my troubles to the Lord; I cried out to him, and he answered my prayer. Pslam 120:1

Urgent Prayers Needed

**UPDATE: Adelaide got her angel wings this morning(9/10).  Please continue to pray for this family.  Wyatt still needs prayers.  God IS the Great Physician and He can heal this sweet boy.  Please pray! You can find their blog here.

Adelaide and Wyatt: Preemies born at 24 weeks and 5 days.  Adelaide is having lots of issues with her lungs and bleeding issues.  PLEASE pray for these two preemies(they were just born a few days ago).  Pray for their parents and pray for God’s healing hand.

Morgan Pope: She was in a serious car wreck on the 7th of this month.   She is currently in ICU.  Please lift her and her family in your prayers.

I’d Like You to Introduce You To…..

Meet Leonidas.  He was the start of our “rodent adoption” as my husband calls it.  He was a pet at the preschool my son goes to.  Long story short….there is a kid at the school that is severely allergic to animal dander(????) so he had to leave.  My friend Amy’s mom is an assistant at the preschool and gave “Elmo” a home.  She has a cat who wanted to eat him.  I went to her house and got suckered into buying the little guy.  His name changed to Leonidas(thanks Mr. C).  He is quite the biter.  He loves his little exercise ball and apples!  We are happy to have him in our home and we are keeping him a secret from Trent(he is at the beach…more about that later in the post).

Meet Delilah. She was adopted 1 day after Leonidas joined our family.  We decided he needed a friend.  She is still a “baby”…not sure how old she is.  She LOVES to be held.  She also likes licking fingers.  Unfortunately, Leonidas keeps trying to “hump” her, as Mr. C so eloquently put it.  She is definitely a little sweetie. Maybe we will have some hamster babies in the future?

Miss Priss is adjusting quite well to “school.”  She LOVES her teachers so much!  If you are in the Lexington area Calvary Baptist Mother’s Day Out program is AMAZING!  ❤ It is so weird having just her here.  She has never been an “only child” and had just mine and Jonathon’s attention because TGD has always been here.  I think she is enjoying her alone time….but she stills asks about “Bubba.”  She likes to talk to him on the phone at night when he calls.   She is seriously getting SOOO big…where does time go?

Last, but certainly not least, here are some pictures from TGD’s vacay with his grandparents:

The Beach! The Beach!

Holding the letter and sucker I sent with him in his backpack. *Tear* I cried when I saw this picture.

Feeding the birds!

TGD has left us for the week to take a little vacay in Myrtle Beach with his Mimi and Papaw.  I was EXTREMELY sad when he left and have shed many tears over it…but I know that he is having a blast.  He will be getting back this Sunday and I can’t wait to see him.  So far he has gone to the beach everyday since Sunday.  He LOVES feeding the seagulls.   I haven’t heard from him tonight, but I’m pretty sure they went to the aquarium tonight.   I will be sharing more pictures and details throughout the week.

Have a blessed day!

What a controversial issue nowadays.   It is SOOOO confusing to “parent’ in this day in age.  There are so many books, opinions, rights and wrongs, and fears.

Questions that CONSTANTLY go through my head are:

  • Are we going to mess up our kid doing this or that?
  • Should I spank him/her here in the store, or will someone call CPS on me?
  • Is this the right way to punish him/her?
  • Can he/she really help “X” behavior?

Obviously there are more questions….but those are the basics.  Why can’t we just go back to the basics?  Why does it have to be all this psychology babble?  Do THEY really know what is best for my child?  Or do I?

YES…I DO!  I am SOOO sick of worrying about what OTHER people think of me for disciplining my kids.  Parents have LOST control of their kids these days….and there is a reason for that.

I was recently introduced to an amazing book called “Parenting by the Book.”  It is all based on the Biblical principles of discipline.  It is a back to the basics approach and it MAKES sense.   It has made the BIGGEST difference in my children’s behavior.

Instead of feeling helpless and like I’ve lost control of my kids…I am BACK in control.  I no longer make excuses for them(like they don’t know what they are doing).  I TEACH them that what they are doing is wrong.

My yes is now yes and my no is now no.  TGD has picked up on that QUICK.  I used to be wishy washy about my no’s and would give in a lot of times.  Now when I say no…he knows I mean it. I now follow through….no more 2nd, 3rd, or 4th chances. I don’t argue with him either.  When he tries to tell me over and over that he is going to do something and I have already told him no…..I ignore him.   It is working like a charm.

I want my children to grow up with amazing character, to be humble, and productive citizens.  God really did get it right when he taught us how to discipline our children.  It is all right there in His word.

I am certainly no expert on parenting and I am learning every single day. But I will no longer worry about what other people think of the way I discipline my children.   I know my kids will love me later in life for teaching them the important things in life.  This is an important season of life and I think we are all hoping just to get it right.

I would highly recommend snatching up Parenting by the Book by John Rosemond.  It has helped us tremendously with discipline and teaching.  Thanks for listening reading my babble! Stepping down off my soapbox…

In other news….TGD will be leaving me for a week to go to the beach with his Mimi.  I have already had my breakdown over it….and letting him go tomorrow night is going to be SOOOO hard.  I have never been away from him this long.  Pray for us! He will definitely have fun at the beach…hopefully he won’t forget about me!

Mr. C has to work on Sunday.  This is a HUGE bummer.  Seriously….can his job not give him just ONE day off every once in awhile….especially a holiday weekend? UGH!  So frustrating!

Not much else going on in our lives right now.  🙂

Have a blessed Labor Day weekend!

We had several outbreaks of MRSA in our house from last October to this past May(Mr. C had 2 breakouts, TGD had 2, and MP had 1).  MP actually had to be hospitalized for 6 days for it.  NOT FUN!

My MIL gave us these AWESOME santizing wipes(she works in a doctors office).  They are the ones that the hospitals use.  Since using them after MP’s outbreak we have had ZERO MRSA outbreaks.

What are they?  Super-Sani Cloths.  Lately I have been more conscious of what kind of cleaners I use.  I really HATE using cleaners that have tons of chemicals and I have actually been resorting to non-toxic, homemade cleaners(vinegar/water mixture for cleaning…etc.)  That is a whole other post in itself.  Back to the point.  This is one product that regardless of all the chemicals in it….I will continue to use.

These are seriously a lifesaver and with cold/flu season going on they are going to come in handy!  It kills TONS of bacteria.  The list of bacteria that it kills is FOREVER long….so you can feel safe!

I use these a little lot.  Probably a little obsessively….I won’t lie.  I could spend HOURS(and trust me I have)….wiping down floors, tables, door knobs, windows, handles, light fixtures, step stools, toys…….and the list goes on.  It just makes me feel better.  MRSA is NO fun and pretty darn scary if you ask me.

The reason I am writing a post on this is b/c the MIL brought me a new container of them last night.  I spent an hour last night wiping things down and it feels GOOD. lol  Call me crazy….but after having MRSA in our house I am quite the germophobe(sp?).

So anyways….enough of that crazy rambling. Well almost enough.  Seriously….you should consider getting these!  I looked online to see the price and they are surprisingly affordable.  Only $6.  Oh and you will want to wear gloves when using these….they will dry your hands out like no other!

Have a blessed day!

O my people, trust in him at all times. Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.
